Skyline Histology Consulting is based in the Blue Ridge region of Virginia and provides both remote and on-site consulting services for histology and pathology laboratories.
Remote consulting allows efficient collaboration for workflow assessments, SOP review, digital pathology planning, validation support, training guidance, and operational strategy. On-site visits are available for laboratories seeking hands-on evaluation, implementation assistance, or in-person training.

Hello! I’m Christine Regan, founder of Skyline Histology Consulting.
I have more than 15 years of experience in histology, with a career spanning hands-on technical work, supervision, quality management, regulatory compliance, and laboratory operations. This experience has given me a practical understanding of the entire histology workflow—from specimen processing and staining through quality control, pathology delivery, and laboratory growth.
During my 13 years with PRW Laboratories, I helped guide the laboratory through sustained growth and significant operational change. Annual case volume increased by at least 10% each year, including growth of 26% and 20% during the two most recent years. Throughout that time, we continued operating within the same 1,100-square-foot laboratory. Managing that growth required us to be resourceful—continually reevaluating workflow, equipment placement, staffing, scheduling, and the use of limited physical space.
Over the same period, I helped grow the laboratory team from six employees to 22 while building the processes, training programs, quality systems, and staffing structure needed to support a high-volume operation.
My experience also includes leading and supporting projects such as:
Implementing and validating new antibodies and staining protocols
Selecting, installing, and validating new laboratory instrumentation
Introducing barcoded workflows to strengthen specimen identification and tracking
Developing interfaces between laboratory instruments and the laboratory information system
Improving workflows across accessioning, grossing, histology, quality control, and case delivery
Preparing for regulatory inspections and maintaining CAP and CLIA compliance
Implementing digital pathology, including workflow design, scanner validation, system integration, and pathologist adoption
These projects taught me that laboratory improvement is rarely about finding one perfect solution. It requires understanding how workflow, technology, staffing, physical space, quality, and patient care affect one another—and then developing solutions that make sense for the laboratory’s actual environment.
I founded Skyline Histology Consulting to share that real-world experience with laboratories facing similar challenges. My approach is practical and collaborative. I take the time to understand how a laboratory truly operates, identify where its processes are creating risk or inefficiency, and develop improvements that its team can realistically maintain.
Based in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains near Skyline Drive, I chose the name Skyline Histology Consulting to reflect both my local roots and the perspective I hope to provide: a clearer view of where a laboratory is today, what may be limiting its progress, and how it can move forward with confidence.
My goal is simple: to help pathology laboratories build stronger processes, use their resources more effectively, and deliver consistently excellent patient care.
